William Young
Dr William Young, born and raised in central Wisconsin, is the former Associate Director of International Programs and Adjunct Professor of History at the University of North Dakota. He specializes in the history of international relations and military history. He especially enjoys medieval, early modern, and modern European history as well as United States diplomatic and military history. His latest published works include German Diplomatic Relations 1871-1945 (2006), International Politics and Warfare in the Age of Louis XIV and Peter the Great (2004), and European War and Diplomacy, 1337-1815 (2003). Dr Young is a former historian for the United States Air Force History Program. He is the author of 42 classified volumes of Air Force history as well as numerous special studies and monographs. His works include coverage of U-2 reconnaissance operations in Europe and North Africa, F-15 fighter alert operations in NATO’s Second Allied Tactical Air Force, INF Treaty compliance inspections in Europe, Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile operations, as well as B-1B strategic bomber and KC-135 air-to-air refueling tanker worldwide operations. Dr Young is a three-time recipient of the Air Force Historian of the Year Award. His military assignments include thirteen years in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. He retired from the Air Force in 1997, and from the University of North Dakota in 2014. He continues to live in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
